Happy Halloween

It's raining here! We're hoping it clears up by tonight for the church fall festival. My Girl is so sad! We went up to Claire's to get some things to complete My Girl's cheetah costume. This year's costume cost us a total of $4 for the ears and tail. Apparently we went to Claire's on the right day because the price tag actually said $8! Love a bargain! The actual outfit was borrowed from her cousin. Since Claire's is right by Starbucks I dug through my wallet and came up with enough cash for my first Frapuccino in months! Mmmm... I will probably be bouncing off the walls soon, because I gave up coffee a few weeks ago!

So we are sitting and waiting this rain out!

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night!

We're getting ready to grill some Caribbean jerk chicken, and I am making a side dish called "Jamaican Coat of Arms." It's red kidney beans boiled in coconut milk and then you add rice and seasonings...smells heavenly. We are sure to be entertained by the horribly awful garage band across the street... (really bad and really loud...)

We had buttermilk waffles and bacon this morning and then went to vote at the early voting poll. Awesome because we were in and out. No line. I worked on some photos on the computer while My Girl rode her bike in the garage, and My Love studied for his two tests coming up this week. Later we went to Walmart to pick up the photos I worked on and buy some Krylon Fusion paint for My Love's car. He is now changing the color scheme of the interior. My Girl came out of there with an .88 cent toy horse.

So I'll leave you all 'till Monday with two of the photos I worked on today... Meet Midnite. Dad R.'s new puppy. Isn't she gorgeous?! And My Girl!

TGIF

It's Friday! PIZZA NIGHT!

We have pizza every Friday night! It's a tradition that started about 3 years ago with Dad and Mom Runyen. We usually ended up there every Friday to visit and it was so much easier to order pizza than to cook for such a crowd. The tradition has stuck. It has remained so through David's tour in Korea, our move to Kentucky, our move back, and even with Mom R.'s passing...it's even stretched into my side of the family. I believe they have pizza on Friday's quite regularly now...

We all love pizza night, first because it's so yummy and easy, and also because it's when we all stop what we're doing and get together as a family for just one night!

I need to get pictures...these are all I have at the moment...taken last year when Angie (my sister) and her family came to visit.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sooped Up Ride

So...Daddy has this interest in trucks and off-roading. A few weekends ago we got My Girl's Barbie Jeep out and she washed it, and Daddy rolled it up onto his car ramps. With a little tweaking he "turbo charged" her Jeep. Apparently he messed with some wires or something and now it goes twice as fast as it used to! He also added "dual exhaust", and a flag. Nothing wrong with living your dreams through your child, right?!

She loves it, and I have to admit it's pretty darn cute, and special since Daddy and her did it together.

P.S. If you click on the images, they will appear larger in a new window.

hanging out

It's a beautiful day here. Sunny and 70 with a cool breeze. My Girl has spent the better part of the afternoon out back. I was out for a little and we had some fun with my camera. She took some pictures of me. She has a pretty creative eye.

She scared me to death a few minutes ago... "BUG!" "MOMMY! MOMMY! There's a BIG bug!" She came running over to me and was crying. I held her and her heart was pounding! I asked her to tell me how big, and she did a hand space of about a foot. I went over to investigate and found this bug. Not a foot long! Apparently it "buzzed" at her though and scared her even more. Anybody know what it is?

Hope you all are having a great week!

2 Hours to Myself!

Today after Gymnastics, My Girl is going over to her cousins house for two hours! That gives me two hours to do whatever I want! ALONE! I want to make the most of that time, but don't know what to do! What would you do?...

Pumpkin Carving 2005

We had a very beautiful day on Saturday! Sunny, and cool...Perfect weather for pumpkin carving! Since we carved our pumpkins later in the day the sun set and we were able to see our finished creations glowing in the night. My Girl's two cousins chose a Kim Possible design, and one free formed her design. My Girl chose Sully from "Monsters Inc." Katie came down for the occasion and was so kind to make Pumpkin Soup, and a beautiful, delicious winter salad with romaine, apples, herbed goat cheese, and vinaigrette dressing made with fresh herbs from her garden. I have decided to make the Pumpkin Soup part of our annual pumpkin carving tradition. My Girl and her cousins did more playing than carving. When it came time to gut the pumpkins, they all had a chance to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. My Girl wasn't crazy about sticking her hand into the gooey innards. ha! But she gave into peer pressure!

saturday morning

It's been a lazy morning, but now it's time to kick it into high gear! This afternoon we're decorating fall shaped sugar cookies, and carving our pumpkins! I assure you there will be photos tomorrow! Hope you all are having a great weekend!

mmmm...

Today I'm busy cleaning and doing laundry, as well as baking sugar cookies in the shapes of leaves and acorns. Tomorrow we are carving pumpkins and frosting the cookies with cousins. Should be fun. In an effort to get that fall feeling around here I replaced my PlugIns with this scent! mmmm... The weather is certainly not fall like around here, with temperatures in the upper 80's!

jump rope

My Girl's newest interest...she is so cute and determined...it's awesome because I thought she would be so frustrated...but she keeps trying!

sorting through

Being the only one around here who scrapbooks...I have acquired all of Grahamcracker's scrapping supplies. She has many! It is sort of bittersweet because I miss her, but going through all this stuff helps me remember the good times. She is the one who got me hooked on scrapbooking. She used to call me anytime she was going to the scrapbook store to see if I wanted to go. I would always say yes. And she would always foot the bill. She was so generous and passionate about preserving memories. She always loved seeing my latest page. She was so proud of them! Even when she was so sick, all she could muster was a faint groan of excitement. I miss being able to show her...So, as I go through these things that were so special to her, I remember her...and miss her...
